Total Event Production partnered with Tribble Creative Group to design and provide a unique lighting design for the Charlotte Chamber's Annual Meeting. Early in the design stages, it became clear that a new concept was needed that differed from all past meetings. A proposal was made to provide a new concept, previously unseen in the Charlotte market.
At the core of the design was the use of Atomic Design's Wafer Wall and the Catalyst Media Server. The Wafer Wall is a newly-developed piece of rental scenery based on 2'x2' squares which take light and projection beautifully. The Catalyst system was used with four 10,000 lumen video projectors and a multitude of moving lights to illuminate the 100'x24' scenic wall. The result was a huge digital canvas which dynamically changed and could have custom content projected on it. Each speaker received a unique animated background and theme. The use of multiple layers and pre-loaded media content allowed a short production schedule while maximizing the overall effect of the design.
The scenic wall also framed rear-projection video screens suspended from the upstage truss. To prevent the front-projection scenic video from showing on the screens, matte layers were created in Catalyst. For the finale, custom video content was projected on the rear projection video screens as well as across the entire set.
